Whole Foods Market announced yesterday that they will be opening a new store in a mixed-use development on the corner of Barrett Parkway and US 41/Cobb Parkway. The newest Whole Foods store in Georgia will occupy approximately 45,000 square feet of retail space, and is slated to open its doors in 2016.
There had been speculation about other possible West Cobb locations in recent years, including one on the corner of Dallas Highway and Casteel Road, near The Avenue West Cobb. But yesterday Whole Foods made it official with the new Barrett Parkway location. This comes as welcoming news to many of us here in West Cobb who have been travelling over to Harry’s Market or the Whole Foods Market in East Cobb.
“We’re always looking for new locations around the Atlanta metro area,” said Jeremiah Ryan, Whole Foods Market South region executive coordinator of operations. “We’re excited that we’ve found a great location for the Kennesaw community, and we look forward to providing more people with good, healthy food options. We aim to be more than a grocery – our stores have a strong connection with the communities they serve. Whether through volunteer hours or fundraising efforts, we look forward to growing those partnerships with our newest store in Georgia.”
The new Kennesaw location is part of Whole Foods’ continued expansion nationally. The company says it has recently signed 21 new leases totalling over 900,000 square feet, which would increase its development pipeline to a record 107 stores.
All I have to say is “Welcome to West Cobb, Whole Foods!”.
