Construction contracts issued in the metro Atlanta area soared 52 percent in 2013, as reported by McGraw Hill Construction.
Future construction contracts issued last year in the 28-county metro area totaled $7.6 billion dollars, up from $5 billion in 2012.
Residential construction posted the largest gain, jumping 57 percent from $2.7 billion in 2012 to $4.2 billion in 2013.
Non-residential construction contracts jumped 47 percent, totalling over $3.4 billion last year.
